Willunga National Trust has established a new Art Gallery in the heritage-listed Waverley Park Homestead in Willunga. The homestead was first owned by Thomas Smith Kell in the 1840s and later by the Aldam and Allen families. It is located near the entrance to the Willunga Golf Course on St Peters Terrace between the Wirra Creek and Taylors Hill Creek, overlooking a picturesque setting of magnificent River Red gums. This new initiative will provide public access to a building that has been vacant for the last seven years.
Our third display is the Places we have lost exhibition which opened on Sunday 30 July. The exhibition comprises of about 20 original artworks of buildings, structures and historic places that are derelict, abandoned, ruined, demolished or have simply vanished. Artists include Anton Riebe, Lesley Redgate, Brian Seidel, Valerie Wright, Hugo Shaw, Jane Price, Kenneth Jack and Barbara Storer. The exhibition will run for three months from the end of July to the end of October. This is our SALADA (South Australian Living and Deceased Artists) exhibition for 2023.
