Celebrating its 20th year – and the tenth such Festival to be held – Festival Fleurieu 2023 is your chance to get out and about, and discover the delights of the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia.
The tenth Festival will keep the spirit and shape of past Festivals, in a dynamic and innovative program that celebrates the arts, culture, community and environment of the district. There will be focus on youth, the future thinkers and creators, and memories of the past twenty years.
The heart of the Festival, the Artist Studio Trail, includes exhibitions across the Fleurieu, with galleries and artists’ studios in Aldinga, Mount Compass, Victor Harbor, Port Elliot and Goolwa.
Musical events range from Opera to Rock’n’roll, while there are plenty of opportunities to sample the gourmet delights and fresh local produce of the Fleurieu.
Free community events begin with Carnival Fleurieu and end with a Maker’s Market.
There are events and workshops highlighting the region’s beautiful natural environment, its thriving indigenous culture, and the wonderful community spirit of the locals, with community groups from Cape Jervis, Inman Valley, Second Valley and Myponga providing entertainment in their community halls, thanks to funding from the District Council of Yankalilla and the Halls Project.
According to Festival Director Judith Adams, “Enthusiasm, and a belief in the power of a community festival to restore and maintain community wellbeing, will drive the core of the 2023 Festival, as residents and organisations become sponsors or supporters with donations, event organisers or volunteers.”
