I like cafes
for their street talk
of reinforced and found friends
the cacophony of plates and cups
two minds melding over a table
The barista wonders where you’ve been
indulging an addict’s lament
Served with a blazing smile
like coming home at last
Conflabs over nicotine brew
yolk bleeding on an artisan slice
rhythm returning to ballast all things
before the kitchen closes
