In another blast from the past, here’s a story I wrote a few years ago about Supercheap Hobbies in Old Coach Road Village.
Troy and Sandi Davis (pictured above) have been in the local area as computer consultants and tech wizards for over 20 years. Troy even remembers providing dial up internet connection for customers in the early days.
It was only when they opened their shop, Supercheap Hobbies, in Old Coach Road, Aldinga, seven or eight years ago, that Troy and Sandi found their true calling.
Supercheap Hobbies is the only store of its kind serving the south of Adelaide.
Supercheap Hobbies specialise in drones, Radio-Controlled (RC) buggies, plastic model kits, accessories and a whole lot more. The shop gets a lot of business from local RC hobby clubs at Seaford, Goolwa and Strathalbyn. There’s even an RC racing track at Littlehampton, near Mt Barker, where aficionados can pilot their remote-controlled buggies and cars around a specially constructed circuit.
Troy provides a lot of advice for beginners, and can provide complete RC kits, etc. if needed.
Christmas saw a huge rush on Scalextric model cars.
As Aldinga Computers, they provide computer repairs plus a range of cartridges, accessories and cables, etc.
They also provide web hosting for customers all over Australia and the world, and have been ABRA’s ISP from the beginning.
They also carry an extensive range of accessories, tools and parts for the model engineer enthusiast, as well as hard to find paints, tools and accessories for crafty locals.
Troy and Sandi live locally, and love living here. Troy says it’s like a country town, while also close enough to the city.
