According to Mark Staniforth of the National Trust, when you volunteer with the Willunga Branch, you are helping the Willunga District to retain its unique character as a vibrant heritage precinct that celebrates its past while enjoying the present and preparing for the future.
Mark says that the Willunga Branch has a range of volunteer positions to suit a range of needs and personalities. Whether you like mixing with people, or want to work by yourself, whether you like writing or gardening, whether you like typing or tying bows, there’s a place for you in their diverse programs.
Some of our volunteering positions are:
- Museum guides for the Courthouse and Slate museums for Sunday openings and group tours.
- Bassett Boys’ School program guides (mainly Year 3 students).
- Heritage Walk researchers, leaders and assistants.
- The Heritage Art program needs people to assist with exhibitions.
- Data entry operators to help us re-establish our online wiki (in 2023) and to build our new website.
- Wedding venue volunteers.
- Courthouse garden volunteers.
- Administration volunteers

“I love volunteering for the Willunga Branch of the National Trust because I know that I am helping to preserve and protect the history, both physical and archival for future generations to respect and enjoy… I love working with the other members because we all have a common interest and I have made lifelong friends”

“My volunteering gives me opportunities for quality interaction with interesting people, further insights into the history of my local community; opportunities to participate in social gatherings, opportunities to engage in physical activities… And a whole lot more.”
