So, it was the equal second wettest April since 2012, when our Aldinga Arts and Eco Village (AAEV) records began & our third wettest YTD to the end of April.
Our ground moisture is not bad for this time of year and we can reduce water consumption from now onwards, as winter approaches. I noticed our farmer friend to our north on Bowering Hill has seeded for this year. Our day time temperatures will be slightly above average, he says as the Antarctic weather has been around this week. Don’t be confused, we still have global warming so let’s not get complacent.
Night time temperatures too will be a little above average due to cloud cover. Rainfall will be around average, mainly from the south-west to westerly direction. Our creek has had a couple of flushes through already & the dams have water in them. The frogs are quite loud in some dams, after the wet. It is also pleasing that our 50,000 litre tank is half full, which is good. With our automatic cleaning system the water quality is good. You can see the bottom of the tank it’s that clean.
If you were a First Nations Person. you’d be eating a feed of mullet at this time of year. When I visited friends on the Coorong I found a fish corral. It took the form of a crescent of stones out about 25 metres out from the shore & went for about 40 metres parallel with the shore. The fish were herded into the area & it was sealed off with brush, then at low tide they went in & collected the fish by hand. Who needs a line, hooks & sinkers or big nets?
That’s all for this month. Sorry it is a bit late but we have been having some computer problems this last fortnight.
All the best,
Paul Rosser
