You are invited to the McLaren Vale Water Allocation Plan Community Forum, hosted by the Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Board. Come along and hear about the key findings and outcomes of the 10 year comprehensive review and help inform a proposal to integrate groundwater and surface water management.
Date and time: Thursday 4th August, 5.30pm – 7.00pm
Venue: McLaren Vale Visitor Information Centre.
About the Forum: The Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Board has recently completed its 10 year comprehensive review of the McLaren Vale Water Allocation Plan (MV WAP) and wishes to present key findings and outcomes to growers in the McLaren Vale region. The purpose of the review was to evaluate the effectiveness of current WAP policies in managing the regions groundwater supply sustainably, and whether the current water allocation plan should be amended.
The review examined groundwater information provided by the Department for Environment and Water, First Nations perspectives and incorporated local community and industry perspectives by establishing a Water Allocation Plan Advisory Committee (WAPAC) that consisted of local vignerons, landholders and community members. The WAPAC members each provided invaluable local insights and perspectives. However, in order to inform a proposal from the MV WAP Review, the Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Board would like to hear from the broader community about a proposal to integrate the management of groundwater and surface water.
We will also be joined on the night by a representative of the Angas Bremer Water Management Committee to hear about the grower experience in the Langhorne Creek region, an area where groundwater management has been included in a broader surface water and groundwater water allocation plan.
